Faced with a growing population and demand for extended services, Washington Adventist Hospital needed a new site. More than just responding to health crises, the organizational vision addresses whole-person wellness for patients, staff, caregivers, and the community. The new site required considerable earthwork to create a state-of-the-art medical complex from an undeveloped parcel. In November 2017, Adventist HealthCare issued a press release renaming the new facility as Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center. Total Civil Construction received the contract for clearing, surface demolition, utility infrastructure installations, storm drainage, wet utilities, earthwork, and environmental preservation. Our role also includes the construction of roadways in and around the hospital campus. The sheer size of the medical complex required colossal drain pipes and structures to contain storm water and divert it in measured release. Total Civil Construction installed a system designed to mitigate erosion risk and preserve surrounding woodlands and waters for the health care campus as well as the surrounding community.
