Description

Construction of a multi-phase new access road and bridges connecting the FDA White Oak Campus to Cherry Hill Road. Construction consisted of building & surface demolition; roadways; earthwork; utility relocation for: electrical distribution, telecommunication distribution, waterlines, and sanitary sewer systems; storm water management piping and systems; relocation/support of steam line and nitrogen gas systems; Security installations including fencing, barriers, and guard booths; electrical overhead and underground power and lighting; guardrails; bridges; concrete blast wall; earth berms; and landscaping

Subcontracted Work

60% of this contract was self-performed by Total. The balance of the work was subcontracted to major trades including: Bridge Contractor, Electrical Contractor, Paving Contractor, and Landscaping Contractor.

Cost And Time Growth Discussion

The added cost to our contract amount was the result of Owner exercised contract options to increase the original scope of our contract.

Offeror's Role

Our role in this project was a Prime Contractor for GSA. The scope of our work included all roadway construction, bridge construction, utility installations, and associated site work including:

  • > Clear and grub
  • > Building/Surface Demolition
  • > Erosion and sediment controls
  • > Excavation of approximately 240,000 CY
  • > Grading of all paved areas, hardscape, and bridge approaches
  • > New roadway, sidewalk and curb/gutter
  • > Utility installations including:
    • Storm Drain RCP pipe ranging from 15" to 72”
    • DIP water pipe ranging from 6” to 10”
    • PVC sewer pipe ranging from 6” to 15”
    • Electrical/Telecommunication ductbank installation both aerial and below grade
    • Steam line and Nitrogen line relocation/support for new work installation
  • > Soil Stabilization of 70,400 SY for roadway by stone bridge lift for ML soil
  • > Multiple storm water management ponds and all associated culverts and structures
  • > Concrete blast wall for protection of Nitrogen Storage Facility
  • > Security fencing and barriers
  • > Electrical power and lighting
  • > Guardrails
  • > Landscaping
