Muirkirk Pond was a retrofit project requiring massive excavation. Exporting more than 120,500 cubic yards of dirt, Total Civil Construction's skilled project team applied ecological and logistical expertise to the environmental restoration and expansion project.Beginning with construction of the access road for trucking operations was critical for creating safe conditions for clearing and excavating operations.Despite weather-related challenges that affected conditions, earthwork and construction phases continued on schedule. In a year when the state experienced higher than average rainfall, the function and capacity of installed storm drainage systems for the Muirkirk Pond project worked as intended. Each phase required a careful balance of minimizing adverse effects to existing natural habitat while safely meeting and managing needs for future development.
