Design/Build construction of a new shop and yard facility used in maintenance and storage of Metro trains along with new parking garages. Construction consisted of building & surface demolition; roadways; earthwork; track work; shop facilities mass excavation; utility relocation for: electrical distribution, telecommunication distribution, waterlines, and sanitary sewer systems; storm water management piping and systems; parking lots; contaminated soil abatement; and track storage areas.

The added cost to our contract amount was the result of unforeseen change conditions encountered during excavation for our work. Offeror's Role

Our role in this project was a design/assist subcontractor for Hensel Phelps Construction. The scope of our work included all roadway construction, utility installations, and associated site work including:

  • > Clear and grub
  • > Building/Surface Demolition
  • > Erosion and sediment controls
  • > Excavation of approximately 180,000 CY
  • > Grading of all paved areas, building pads, hardscape
  • > New roadway and parking areas
  • > Utility installations including:
    • Storm Drain RCP pipe ranging from 24” to 78”
    • DIP water pipe ranging from 8” to 24”
    • PVC sewer pipe ranging from 8” to 12”, including forcemains & lift stations
    • Oil/Water Separators
    • Electrical/Telecommunication ductbank 4-Way through 26-Way
    • Jack and bore as required under existing facilities
  • > Bioretention Ponds
  • > 96” underground storm water quality control system
  • > Storm water management ponds and all associated culverts and structures
  • > Soil stabilization of 10,100 SY for roadway and structure by stone bridge lift for CL soil
  • > Contaminated soil abatement
